Measuring the Economic Impacts of Foundation Grantmaking
On July 25, The Philanthropic Collaborative and the Urban Institute's Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy co-hosted a half-day conference on the need to quantify and share with policy makers the economic impacts of foundation grant making. The series of roundtable discussions brought together economists, academics, journalists, and representatives of nonprofits and foundations to discuss methods used to quantify, assess, and share with policymakers information about the economic impact of foundation grant making. The event served as a catalyst for discussing methodologies, gaps, critiques, limitations, and opportunities. The conference affirmed TPC's mission and the relevance of our efforts to help lawmakers better understand and appreciate the broader value of foundations.
